Arise To Serve is a three-part program to bring people and families together. Everyone is welcome and all ages can take part in the program. The first part is to introduce everyone and to consult on virtues that are valued in every culture that enable people to live by the highest values. Participation is encouraged so that anyone can express their thoughts and views. This is followed by arts and crafts projects, dance and song and everyone gets involved. Finally, everyone comes together to share refreshments as a family, to learn more about each other and to become friends.

Arise to Serve uses the Virtues Project, a global initiative, to inspire the practice of virtues such as respect, trustworthiness and compassion, in everyday life. Virtues has mobilized people worldwide to commit acts of service and generosity, awakening a goodly character, and inspiring us to be the highest expression of our true nature and to make the world a better place to live in.

Some of the virtues Arise To Serve focuses on are:

Courtesy  -  Respect - Service -  Helpfulness -  Kindness -  Caring  -  Compassion -  Love  -  Gratitude  -  Thankfulness - Friendliness - Generosity - Honesty - Responsibility

TRUTHFULNESS is the foundation of all the virtues. Truthfulness means your words and your actions are full of truth. Being truthful means you don't tell lies, even to protect yourself or anyone else. You don't live a lie, you don't lie to others, and you don't lie to yourself. You show people who and what you are without exaggerating to impress them or trying to look like something you are not. Being true to yourself is living by your true nature, being your true self.

Truthfulness builds bonds of love and trust. People know where they stand with an honest and truthful person. When people practice truthfulness, what they say can be trusted. They say what they mean and mean what they say. When people do not practice truthfulness, no one can tell if they are lying or telling the truth. They cannot be trusted to tell the difference between what is true or what is false, what is a story and what really happened. Without trust there is confusion and disunity.

HONESTY is telling the truth no matter what. It is being truthful even when admitting the truth could make someone disappointed. When you are honest with others, they know they can believe you. With honesty you can trust things to be as they appear. Being honest means you do what you say you will do, and your actions match your words. When you are honest with yourself you have a chance to correct your mistakes.

GRATITUDE

What do you have to be thankful for?

There are 1,440 minutes in a day. Have you used one to say "thank you?" Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others.

We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude. Gratitude consists of being more aware of what you have, than what you don’t. There is no mystery on how to become a person with the attribute of gratitude. Think gratefully. Speak gratefully. And act gratefully. Every little bit of thinking, speaking, and acting this way makes you more grateful than if you wouldn’t have thought, spoken, or acted this way.

We often seek extraordinary moments to find happiness, when all we really need is a heart of gratitude for life's everyday moments to unlock that treasure. It's often right in front of us if we pay attention to what we have and practice gratitude. The more you express thanks, the happier you are.

Feel grateful for what you have. Don't take things for granted! Have an attitude of gratitude -- gratitude for all you can do, for when things go well, for all your friends, for making people happy, and always think of what you have to be thankful for.

"Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an hones compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around." Help others to be grateful. It's easy."
